Editing text

One of the most common edits you'll make is changing text. Whether it's fixing a typo, updating information, or completely rewriting content, the Edit Tool makes text editing quick and easy.

Selecting Text to Edit

1. Enable Edit Mode
2. Hover over the text you want to edit
3. Click to select it
4. The Text tab opens automatically in the editing panel

The Text Editor

When you select a text element, you'll see:

• Current text displayed in an editable field
• Character count (if applicable)
• Save/Cancel buttons

Making Text Changes

Simple Edits

1. Click in the text field
2. Edit the text as needed
3. Changes apply automatically

Replacing All Text

1. Select all text in the field (Ctrl/Cmd + A)
2. Type your new text
3. Changes save automatically

Common Edits

Tips for Text Editing

Keep Context in Mind

When editing text:

• Maintain the same tone as the rest of the site
• Keep text length similar (very long text might break the layout)
• Proofread before saving

Formatting

The text editor shows plain text. If you need formatting:

• Bold, italic, etc. - Ask the AI in chat
• Links - Use the AI to add links
• Special characters - Type them directly

Placeholder Text

If you see "Lorem ipsum" or placeholder text:

• Replace it with your actual content
• Make sure to update all placeholder text before publishing

What You Can Edit

Headings

All heading levels (H1, H2, H3, etc.) are editable:

• Main titles
• Section headings
• Subheadings

Paragraphs

Any paragraph text:

• Descriptions
• About content
• Feature explanations
• Any body text

Button Text

Change what buttons say:

• "Learn More" → "Get Started"
• "Submit" → "Send Message"
• "Buy Now" → "Add to Cart"

Navigation Items

Menu items and links:

• Rename menu items
• Update navigation labels

Lists

Individual list items:

• Feature lists
• Bullet points
• Numbered lists

What You Cannot Edit with the Edit Tool

Some text requires the AI chat:

• Text that comes from data (like form submissions)
• Dynamically generated text
• Text inside special components

For these, describe your change in the chat instead.

Common Scenarios

Scenario 1: Updating Contact Info

Need to change your phone number?

1. Enable Edit Mode
2. Click on the phone number text
3. Update the number
4. Done!

Scenario 2: Fixing a Typo

Spotted a spelling mistake?

1. Enable Edit Mode
2. Click on the text with the error
3. Fix the typo
4. Done!

Scenario 3: Changing a Headline

Want a different hero title?

1. Enable Edit Mode
2. Click on the headline
3. Type your new headline
4. Done!

Text Length Considerations

Keep in mind:

• Too long: May break the layout or overflow
• Too short: May look odd with existing spacing
• Just right: Similar length to original text

If your new text is significantly different in length, you might need to ask the AI to adjust the layout.

Saving Text Changes

Changes are saved automatically when you:

• Click outside the text field
• Select another element
• Close the editing panel

Undoing Text Changes

Made a mistake?

• Immediate: Press Ctrl/Cmd + Z in the text field
• After saving: Use Version History to restore
